Crio Brü packaging
Here are the product shots of the first two flavors of Crio Brü. For those who don’t know what Crio Brü is, first of all it is not coffee. It’s brewed like coffee (in a coffee machine or french press) but it’s made from cocoa beans. We really wanted these to stand out on the shelves and each flavor will have it’s own unique color while staying within the same theme. Eventually the graphic will be printed over the entire bag but for now they are labels pressed onto a black bag. These are a lot of fun to design and I’m looking forward to creating the other flavors.
Crio Brü logo
Hey, so I’m really excited about this project. This is the first piece of many and the starting point of any branding is the logo. This is a new product launch and I wanted to take this opportunity to show my process for creating a logo, from sketch to finished product.
I also created complimentary textures, colors and patterns to be used with this logo. The different colors will actually coincide with different flavors.
Next I’ll post the packaging design.
Hoppers Gift Cards
So I had the task set before me to design a new Hoppers gift card and holder. After turning in my concepts, they liked two of them so much that they decided to put both of them into production. They turned out pretty nice and I can’t wait to see the final product.
Hoppers Posters
I was asked to create two posters for the Live Set concerts at Hoppers restaurants. The first is for artists interested in performing at Hoppers. The second is a template for the artists who do perform. The artist image, album covers and dates gets swapped out for each new artist.
Retribution Gospel Choir (concert poster)
Here is another poster that took me several failed concepts to get it right. I really wanted to play off the choir boy image but with a dangerous twist. Like an avenging angel or a spirit seeking justice. Anyway, it turned out pretty nice with great color splashes and dynamic action. This again is a bit of a style departure. It has kind of a comic book cover feel to it, but I think that works for it.
The Winter Sounds concert poster
So I altered my style a bit on this one but it was working so well I just went with it. I guess this would be the minimalist version of my usual illustration style. I couldn’t find a liquid splash that fit into the arch I needed so I ended up finding something similar and drawing it out by hand with pencil (turned out pretty nice if I do say so myself). This quickly goes to the top few of my favorite posters that I’ve done.
3 Projects Past
For whatever reason these projects got passed by without being posted. Rather than spread them out over the next few weeks (and get more behind posting projects) I’m going to combine them into this one post.
First up is a logo for Kimberly Jane Photography. Fortunately her favorite flowers are lilies (which can look very different depending on what kind they are). It made for a really interesting logo mark. So I created this vector lilly to compliment the color theme and text.
Next is a Coaster for Hoppers. Based on the Chill concept I created previously and the piranha I did for their t-shirts. It seemed an effortless project. Like putting puzzle pieces together that were meant to be together in this perfect space.
Lastly is a website header I did for Money Desktop in Flash. There are 5 animations meant to run continuously with small pauses in between or to be clicked around using the navigation at the bottom. It all came together quite nicely. Click Here to see the animation
Reef logo texture illustration
So my client found this photo of this colored swirling glass that she thought was perfect for her logo. She couldn’t get ahold of the photographer to get his permission to use it. Not only that but part of it was too dark and made the logo difficult to read. So she asked me if I could illustrate something similar for her to use. I said yes not knowing how I was going to do it. The result was surprising even to me. I built it from scratch in photoshop. This is what she had to say about it, “WOW, that turned out WAY better than I expected! I love it! It’s better than the photo. Super, awesome, amazing, tubular, sweet, etc.”. In addition to the logo it will be used as part of the business identity (letterhead, business cards, etc.
For reference I am showing the original photo.

Velowave Logo
This turned out to be a sweet little logo. I was happy we were able to do some fun little things to it, like pulling out those little fins on the v’s to match the big red V.
Granada Advisors Flash Website
This was an intensive website to build. It has a lot of features that I had not created before, rss feeds right in flash, full screen flash expansion, swfaddress (separate urls for each swf or page loaded in). It also has some features that I have worked with before, contact form, music player, etc. I think it turned out great and I learned a lot creating it (always a plus). You can view the site here: www.granadaadvisors.com
Brew Master’s Dinner sign
This sign will be placed in all Hoppers locations and is used to let people know when The Brew Master’s Dinner takes place. Basically the Brew Master sits down with you and lays some knowledge on you about what goes with what. The big date stamp will actually be a sticker that they can update with the newest info. I really liked the design they picked. It worked out nicely.
Marcy Playground concert poster
So I’m sitting at a stop light and this idea pops into my head. I held onto it for just the right opportunity. Then I got word of the Marcy Playground concert and I knew that was it. It turned out quite nice, a little darker than I had originally intended but it’s one of my favorites.
