Reef logo texture illustration
So my client found this photo of this colored swirling glass that she thought was perfect for her logo. She couldn’t get ahold of the photographer to get his permission to use it. Not only that but part of it was too dark and made the logo difficult to read. So she asked me if I could illustrate something similar for her to use. I said yes not knowing how I was going to do it. The result was surprising even to me. I built it from scratch in photoshop. This is what she had to say about it, “WOW, that turned out WAY better than I expected! I love it! It’s better than the photo. Super, awesome, amazing, tubular, sweet, etc.”. In addition to the logo it will be used as part of the business identity (letterhead, business cards, etc.
For reference I am showing the original photo.

How it’s used in the logo.

Surprisingly it didn’t take all that long, around 3 hours. It was a fun challenge.

How did you do that?! I know how to do the letters part, but was recreation of the original photo hard? Was this hand Drawn First or completly from Scratch? It’s pretty Awesome.

Glad you like it. Normally I always start with paper and pencil but this is the exception. Because this is just made up of shapes, textures and colors, I just jumped right in from scratch.
