Gene Loves Jezebel concert poster
Posted on Tuesday, March 16, 2010 in Concert poster, Drawing, Illustration, Print
This was a last minute concert poster that came together really fast, after a couple of failed attempts. I’ve been trying for, at least the last 4 or 5 posters, to put a female into one of my posters but they never came out right. Finally with this it worked out (however the character, to some, seems kind of androgynous. thought the intent was female). Despite having to put this together in one night, the more I look at it the more I like it. It’s becoming one of my favorites (I know I say that about almost every new poster, but that’s good right? It means I’m improving with each one).

Gene Loves Jezebel so much. NO ONE ELSE CAN HAVE HER.
I think the Jezebel name lent itself to a female subject fairly well. To be honest, I wouldn’t have been 100% sure it was a female when I first saw it if you hadn’t explained it. Kind of a Ziggy Stardust type. But I love that you can tell her head has been bashed against the ground repeatedly.

Also, that you’re not sure where the hair ends and blood begins is a nice touch.

This has a lot of depth for a show poster, but it works really well. The hair/splatter adds a weird dimension that I like. Very cool.

I like this one a lot I could tell it was female. Ignore Kyle.

What always strikes me in this one is the glow of the wood texture in the background. Looks like it is backlit! The coloring is amazing- lends a feeling of violence recently done.
